RCOM and Lenovo intros CDMA-GSM Smartphone

In a clear indication of its gradual tilt CDMA major Reliance Communications (RCOM) in association with Lenovo today unveiled sub-Rs 8,000 Smartphone.

To be available by the end of March, the device features innovative dual network - CDMA and GSM capability.

RCOM president and CEO- Wireless Business Gurdeep Singh said that the new co-branded device will be available at all 900 RCOM stores in addition to retail market. The company is also bundling special data plans for Lenovo customers for multiple devices.

The new Smartphone features dual-core processor and is Android 4.0 ICS-based device. "This Smartphone will have smart routing that allows users to switch calls between networks in case of decline in network strength during call.

RCOM also plans to launch Lenovo's Idea Tab before September 2013. "We will complete the gamut of Smartphones in six months, before the coming festive season," he said. The company said that they will acquire more Snmartphones and tablet.

"In line with our endeavor to develop the CDMA device ecosystem, the co-branded smart-phones are set to offer a superlative customer experience in terms of device, speed and coverage on our high speed data network offering the widest footprint across the country," Singh added.

Lenovo VP for business development JD Howard said that as they embark on Smartphone journey, relationship with Reliance gives unique edge to them.
