Rational Software launches Rational Apex

BANGALORE: Rational Software India, subsidiary of US based Rational Software

Corporation has launched its Rational Apex in India. The key targets would be

establishments who develop mission critical applications like in Aerospace and

Defence sectors. Expressing his views on target market, Joe Marasco, Senior Vice

President and General Manager, Rational Software said that Apex is mainly used

by companies which use `mission critical' applications. This product will used

by Avionics, Air traffic control, Defence and in Space programs. Apart from

these, the company is targeting software development companies and telecom

companies for this product.

Speaking about the new product, he said, " Rational Apex is an

integrated environment for designing, developing and maintaining complex Ada

applications. Rational Apex is a fundamental component of Rational's modern

software engineering solution, comprising of software processes, integrated

software development tools and professional services. The complete rational

solution gives the user control of their software development efforts.

Rational Apex supports cross compilation to environment employed in a large,

complex application." Without giving any projected business from Apex in

India, he said, "We are not differentiating India market with our other

foreign markets." In India, rational is expanding its presence. By this

month end, the company is opening its offices in Hyderabad, Delhi, Mumbai and

Chennai. On this expansion progarm, the company is investing around Rs 70 lakhs.
