Rambus signs patent license deal with Freescale

BANGALORE, INDIA: Rambus Inc agreed to license certain patents to Freescale Semiconductor for five years and resolve all claims related to the technology.

The company said it will license its patent for memory controllers and serial links used in Freescale's logic integrated circuits.

Rambus, which has a history of litigating against chip makers for violating its intellectual property rights, had in December filed a patent infringement suit against Freescale and sought U.S. International Trade Commission inquiry into the issue.

Rambus shares' rose 3 percent after-markets to $14.11 having closed at $13.68 on Monday on Nasdaq. Freescale, which made its New York Stock Exchange debut late last month, closed at $18.24 on Monday
