Speaking about their latest green initiatives, Bhavya Jain, Country Sales Manager—Storage and Surveillance shared, "Raid Store's new green feature for its Raid Subsystems includes Automatic Disk Spin Down. This feature makes Raid sub systems green and help customers to reduce the overall disk power consumption."

Throwing more light on Raid Store products, Jain said, "Energy Saving has been an important issue for both environment protection and power cost. The hard drives consume most power in the sub systems. But in many applications, such as e-mail backup storage, data pool, etc, there is no or few I/O access after office hour or the systems have regular access time. If those less-accessed hard drives can be spinning down when I/O access opportunity is low, the overall power cost can be reduced. Take a data pool equipped with 16 1TB SATA II drives for example, and usually there is no access from 7:00PM to 9:00AM, Raid Store controller can trigger hard drives to spin down. By comparing the hard drives' power consumption, customers can save at least 50 percent of disk power cost. If a sub system is used for backup and rarely accessed, with proper configuration, customers can save up to 70 percent of disk power cost."

Raid Store's Automatic Disk Spin Down feature is different from MAID technology. Raid Store spin down feature is to keep disks spinning until they are not needed which is opposite to MAID technology.

Raid Store Automatic Disk Spin Down is available for all of its Raid Sub Systems.

Raid Store products are available in India through Fortune Marketing, its national distributor.
