BANGALORE, INDIA: Quest Software, Inc, a provider application monitoring, database management, Windows management and virtualization management, today announced that it has launched PowerGUI Pro, its graphical PowerShell administration console.

With PowerGUI Pro, administrators can manage PowerShell from mobile devices, protect scripts with integrated version control, and gain access to Quest technical support, said a press release.

In the past three years, the PowerGUI community has increased the adoption of PowerShell, using the freeware to create scripts with the click of a mouse; analyze and troubleshoot more advanced scripts with an integrated rich script editor and debugger; and create pre-packaged groups of PowerShell scripts called PowerPacks.

Organizations need to ensure that end users have access to information 24x7. While administrators generally are not in the office 24x7, they now can use a Web browser with MobileShell to troubleshoot remotely − with increased control and security − from any mobile device, server or client.

Placing tested and approved scripts into production is critical. With ScriptControl, PowerGUI Pro users can create best practices for PowerShell scripting by testing scripts and reviewing the changes that have been made.

“PowerShell adoption has exploded in the past few years, and the community has embraced PowerGUI freeware as the way to manage their PowerShell environments,” said Dmitry Sotnikov, Microsoft PowerShell MVP and director of cloud solutions at Quest Software.

He added, “We want to help the community take the management of PowerShell to the next level. The release of PowerGUI Pro will continue to deliver quick, inexpensive management, while Quest and the community continue to keep the freeware available.”

PowerGUI Pro is available now, with North American pricing of $199 (USD) per enabled user, and can be purchased directly on the Quest eStore.
