The new center will act as an extension of Quartics' existing worldwide engineering operations and technical support. This research and development center has been envisioned to focus on video innovation, video algorithm development and implementation and support of customers in China.

A company official has been quoted as saying that besides the center for excellence, it has also introduced its programmable Qvu processor for video enhancement technology to consumers and OEM/ODM customers in China.

The center of excellence has more than 20 engineers under its roof and will probably add another 50 personnel by the year-end. With the Chinese consumer electronics market having grown at a rate of 19 percent in 2009 and added growth up to a 13 percent CAGR seen happening by 2015, the center expects activities to get a boost.

The new center in China will allow Quartics better access to some of the world's top video engineering and product development talent as well as a closer physical location to our future customers in the region, John Yuan, vice president of engineering for Quartics, has been quoted as saying by EETimes.

The company looks forward to extending the benefits of its technology to consumers, OEM and ODM companies in China through the successful activities of the new center.
