Punarbhava.in, portal for disabled goes live

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Ministry of Communication & IT and the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment today announced the launch of interactive portal – punarbhava.in for disabled people.

The Minister of State for Communication & IT, Dr. Shakeel Ahmed said: “My ministry is committed to serve the marginalized in the country in order to build an inclusive society, and this of course includes persons with disability.”

This unique web portal by Media Lab Asia and Rehabilitation Council of India supports and makes easy for persons with disabilities, their parents, NGOs, community members, rehabilitation professionals and a variety of other individuals associated with disabled access information on Government Acts/National policies on disability, institutions working in this field, assisting devices available, courses and employment opportunities.

Dr Ahmed also released a screen-reading software – SAFA (Screen Access for All) for the education and computer literacy of visually impaired.
