The erstwhile All Mysore Small Scale Industries Association the precursor of the KASSIA was established in 1949 in Bangalore at the initiative of the Freedom Fighter Late R.S. Aradhya to broaden the outlook of the entrepreneurs and improve the economy of the state through small scale industries. It would also afford them an opportunity of mutual service and collective action on issues pertaining to Industry and Commerce.

Started with a membership of 12 in 1949 representing the small scale industries, KASSIA was initially housed in a rented building and moved into its own premises in Vijayanagar in 1987.

With Sri R.S. Aradhya as its first President during 1949-67 the Association has had a distinguished array of industrialists as its Presidents.

KASSIA today has a membership of nearly 5000 drawn from all segments of the SSI Sector spread over the entire state, including about 92 Affiliated Associations.

KASSIA is a premier voluntary state level non Government Institution of Small Scale Industrialists. It is a registered body under Karnataka Societies Registration Act and is functioning on democratic lines with regular annual AGM, election of Council Members & Office Bearers and adhering to constitutional bye-laws and convention

It is Managed by a Council of Management consisting of President, Vice President, the immediate Past President (Ex-officio Member) and 47 members directly elected by the General Body, Past Presidents and Special Invitees are also part of the system.

It is is primarily responsible for policy formulation and imparting guidance and direction to the affairs of the Association.

A permanent Secretariat looks after the implementation of policies and day-to-day administration, under the guidance of the Office Bearers.

Besides the Council of Management, there are Sub Committees, on different issues pertaining to Business.

KASSIA is an ISO 9001-2008 certified organization.

Role & Objectives

To promote the development of Small Scale Industries.

To provide facilities for exchange of information, experience and interests among the Small Industries.

To co-operate with industrial, business, educational and research institutions and other organisations in the collection and exchange of information pertaining to Small Industries.

To undertake professional, technical and management consultation services.

To organise studies, survey and research projects.

To establish common service facilities for its members.

To further the cause of small industries by holding consultations with Union and State Government and other bodies.

To conduct and participate in National and International Exhibitions and Trade Fairs.

To derive the advantages of collective action which member units may not be able to accomplish individually.

To publish books, news-papers, periodicals, pamphlets or any other publications of interest to the SSI Sector.

To establish trade centres, display centers, sub-contracting exchanges and other promotional institutions for the benefit of small scale sector.

To undertake activities incidental to the attainment of the objectives and towards healthy development of small scale industries.

KASSIA Udyog Bhavan

This is a Rs.. 10 crore infrastructure project, is clear to us and is planned to accommodate enterprise developmental activities.

The virtual display center will serve as an ideal exhibition space for various industries across the state to organize and exhibit their products. It will be a one stop familiarization point for the Domestic and Foreign agencies to explore diverse business avenues and technology.

Research Centre

The research centre will provide service to the small scale industries in terms of techno economic research, policy making assistance, various macro and micro services. It will accommodate a sub-contract exchange centre, which will focus on the vendor rating, development and various domestic and international outsourcing facilitations. The Centre will associate itself with reputed national and international documental agencies especially COMBINET and UNIDO .

Export Import Cell

We have planned to have an Export Import Cell, which will accommodate facilities for exports and imports, counseling centres, quality awareness and entrepreneur development in overseas business.

Auditorium

The Auditorium with a seating capacity of 400 t0 450 audience, which will enable to empower the entrepreneurs in their endevours. This modern auditorium is equipped with the latest ICT gadgets and other amenities to facilitate programmes and lectures which will be highly sought after. The Green Room and Cafeteria makes it a full-fledged facility for various programmes.

A symposium hall and a boardroom with video conferencing facilities will be available to SSI's fraternity.
