Founded in 1961, Indian Drug Manufacturers’ Association (IDMA) has played very useful and constructive role as the voice of the National Sector of the Pharma Industry. (Apart from serving as a channel of Communication between the Government and the Industry.) IDMA has been actively assisting the Government and the Industry in promoting G.M.P., quality standards, R & D, Pharmacopoeia standardization, documentation of herbal medicines, exports etc.

Membership over 900 wholly-Indian large, medium and small companies. Turnover of Indian Pharma Industry more than 90,000 crores a growth rate of over 10%. Members share in domestic market 75% in formulation and 85% in API, in export members contribution 65%. Indian Pharmaceutical Industry employers over 6 million personnel.

IDMA promote drug research and development of new drug in the country. IDMA collect and circulate statistics and other information relating to Industry. IDMA — GSB has organized Pharmac 2009 which was a grand success more than 9000 Pharma Manufacturers visited.

Association Key Objectives:

1.To promote drug research in all its branches, including the manufacturers of drugs in India.

2.To promote research and development of new drugs in the country.

3.To represent the common difficulties of the members before the various departments and the local bodies (Municipality, Central and State Government, etc.) and so solve them in the best interest of the members.

4.To promote science and the diffusion of useful knowledge, the foundation and maintenance of libraries or reading rooms for general use among the members, to open museums and galleries.

5.To collect and circulate statistics and other information relating to the profession, trade, commerce and industry.

6.To encourage assist and extend knowledge and information connected with the profession, trade, commerce and industry of India by establishment and promotion of lectures or discussion of correspondence or by holding of conferences or by the formation of libraries or by the publication of newspapers, periodicals, journals, books & or by foundation and endowments of studentship, or however otherwise.
