Pre-order for Google Pixel phones starts on Oct. 13 at a starting price of Rs 57K

Putting all the rumours to rest, Google has unveiled its much-awaited Pixel range of phones in a live event in San Francisco.

But there was hardly any surprise element in it as the event just went on validating the rumours including the leaked image and specs!

Pixel running on the newest Android 7.1 Nougat will be available for pre-order in India next week (October 13), with prices starting from Rs 57,000. The phone will be available from Flipkart, Reliance Digital, and Croma, as well as smaller retailers.

Pixel will be available in India in two sizes - 5inch or 5.5 inch and two colors - Quite Black and Very Silver with 32GB and 128GB storage options. The Really Blue (limited edition) color option will not be available in India.

The US pricing for the Google Pixel starts at $649 (approximately Rs. 43,000) for 32GB variant and $749 (approximately Rs. 50,000) for 128GB while Pixel XL costs $769 (approximately Rs. 51,000) for 32GB and $869 (approximately Rs. 58,000) for 128GB.

Specifications:

The Google Pixel flaunts a 5-inch full HD AMOLED display at 441ppi protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 4 on the front display and back glass.

The Google Pixel XL has almost similar specifications and features like Pixel smartphone with few additions here and there.

Pixel XL is slightly larger version of Pixel with the 5.5-inch QHD AMOLED display.

Both the phones runs on Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 821 quad-core chipset clocked at 2.15GHz. The smartphone comes with 4GB RAM, and with 32GB or 128GB storage options.

The smartphone features a 12.3MP rear camera with f/2.0 aperture, LED flash and features like HDR+, Photospehere, Panorama in Fisheye mode, Lens Blur, and Smartburst that takes a rapid-fire sequence of shots and automatically selects the best one.

Pixel buyers will get free unlimited storage for original quality photos and videos at full resolution in Google Photos.

Pixel also flaunts an 8MP front camera, back-mounted fingerprint sensor and the fast-charging option of up to seven hours in 15 minutes.

Pixel comes with 2,770mAh battery which Google claims will offer 26 hours of talktime and up to 19 days on standby mode, while  Pixel XL comes with a 3,450mAh battery which Google claims will offer 32 hours of talktime and up to 23 days on standby mode.

Connectivity options include Bluetooth, 4G LTE with VoLTE support, Wi-Fi, GPS, NFC and USB-C.

Pixel is also the first phone with the Google Assistant built in.

Phones will get software and security updates as soon as they’re available and Google has made the update process easier with hassle-free by installation run in the background.

Switching from the old phone also gets easier with the Quick Switch Adapter.

Pixel buyers in India will have access to a toll free phone support number along with 54 walk-in service centres across 30+ cities in India.
