Praveen Vishakantaiah to head Intel India

BANGALORE, INDIA: Intel India has named Praveen Vishakantaiah as president to take over from Frank Jones, with effect from mid October this year.

Frank Jones, Intel India's current president, will return to the US for a new assignment as he approaches the end of his term, an Intel statement said.

Praveen Vishakantaiah is currently the director of the Digital Enterprise Group in India. In his current position he is responsible for functional management of the server microprocessor design, server chipset design and processor system validation groups in India, as well as overall operations and leadership development.

His responsibilities also include site management of other DEG India groups, and he has been actively involved in development of the broader Intel India site.

Before relocating to India in 2003, Vishakantaiah was part of the microprocessor design team contributing to the development of Pentium II, Pentium III and Pentium 4 microprocessors.
