NEW DELHI: Plantronics, Inc., manufacturer of communications headsets, has announced the setting up of its Indian operations. The company will now offer its entire range of Call Center, Office, Mobile and Computer communication solutions in the Indian market through its distribution network with the support of the new office in New Delhi. Some of Plantronics customers in India include call center companies such as GE, American Express, Convergys and SpectraMind.

Commenting on the launch of the company's operations in India, Ken Kannappan,

CEO, Plantronics, said "Current research (by Frost & Sullivan)

indicates that India is the fastest-growing market for contact center systems in

the Asia-Pacific region, with a projected compound annual growth rate of 24 per

cent from 2000 to 2007. Therefore, we see India playing the role of a strategic

market for our global operations and growth in the region. We have already seen

a rapid increase in sales over the past few years through our distributors and

are now perfectly positioned to react to the expected upsurge in product

demand."

"The investment in the Indian operations represents a further step in the
global investment of Plantronics and reflects the opportunity that the

burgeoning Call Center market in India offers.", he added.

Bobby Joseph has been appointed Country Manager for Plantronics India. Prior

to Plantronics Joseph was Sales Manager with Nokia, India handling the North and

East India Regions, where he successfully extended the company's distribution

reach and telecom operator tie-ups. Joseph is now responsible for developing the

Indian market for the entire range of Plantronics products.
