BANGALORE: Pidilite Industries' first batch of 40 third party stockists will be connected through a portal and go live by end April.

This is part of Pidilite Industries' initiative to capture secondary sales information and auto replenishment of stockist stocks besides exchanging other related business data and information. Starting with the pilot involving 40 stockists, the project, to be completed in 3 phases, will be implemented over 18-24 months. Sify is providing the infrastructure back end for the portal.

This is expected to improve visibility of data across the full supply chain and improve decision making in addition to improving response times and settling claims quickly.

Adds Zoeb Adenwalla, CIO, Pidilite Industries, "Once secondary sales information are in place, we will shift our forecasting from primary to secondary. This will help improve our service levels, reduce inventory, reduce stock-outs etc, as we will be replenishing the stock based on norms only, there will not be any dumping."
