Addressing the media, Dr. Menhardt elaborated on his plans for PIC, "PIC in Bangalore has a talented pool of engineers and scientists who are able to develop top of line technologies for any market in the world. At this point in time, our focus would be on delivering products and solutions of the highest quality, especially in healthcare, but with an increased focus on India".

PIC contributes to the robust portfolio of Philips' medical systems. The goal of each product is clear - faster and more accurate diagnosis and treatment. Product lines the engineers work on include best-in-class technologies in X-ray, ultrasound, magnetic resonance, computed tomography, nuclear medicine, PET, radiation oncology systems, patient monitoring, and information management and resuscitation products. Engineers at PIC provide 'end-to-end' solutions, covering requirement definition, architecture, design, development, integration and testing as well as on-site consultancy.

Dr. Menhardt also announced the commencement of development activity for Philips lighting. Envisaging the requirements of consumers and at the same time keeping in mind concerns of the environment, Philips will develop a range of innovative digital lighting solutions for global markets.
