CHENNAI: FutureSoft, Chennai-based provider of communication services and licensing communication IPR, has inducted Phaneesh Murthy into the Board of Directors of the Company. Murthy, who recently floated his own company Primentor, Inc, a US-based strategy consulting company, was initially a Member of the Board of Infosys Technologies and head of Global sales and marketing.

Sarbpreet Singh, the former Vice President & General Manager of the MPLS core switching division at Lucent Technologies, has also joined FutureSoft as the Chief Sales and Marketing Officer. Speaking at a press conference, KV Ramani, Chairman & Managing Director, FutureSoft said that the company is looking for 60 percent of revenue coming for IPR.

"For this to happen we had to strengthen our company. So we asked Murthy to guide from the board in the formulation of strategy and advice in scaling the business. Singh will strengthen the company in its sales and marketing operations. With the new direction we intend to become the first organization in India to have scaled up using the Intellectual Property," he added.

According to Murthy, the outsourcing of Telco industry stands at about $ 51 billion, whereas only $1.1 billion work is done from India and that too in the area of equipment manufacturing and not services. So there is significant place for India in building IPR based products from India.

Singh said that FutureSoft with its rich IPR portfolio is aiming to become the premier communication solution player for broadband and the enterprise segment. In the IP business, the company plans to offer a bouquet of seven solutions over the next 12 months and these are expected to significantly scale up the IP business.
