PegaSystems aims to triple its eco system

HYDERABAD, INDIA: With an ever increasing number of business coming forward to adopt Business Process Management (BPM) software to improve their efficiencies, PegaSystems,a leading BPM vendor,  is expecting ramp up is eco system by attracting developers especially in India.

India accounts for about 75 per cent of the 15,000 Pega developers in the world. But the company feels that the number was not proportionate to the demand from partners.

Says Suman Reddy Eadunuri, Managing Director of PegaSystems India: "As on date we have around 15,000 Pega certified developers in the world. We are aiming to expand the ecosystem and have 50,000 developers in the next five years, a bulk of them from India."

The number of Internet connected devices is shooting up. We need to have devices that can facilitate seamless flow of information as the users move from one device to another, he reasons.

PegaSystems is especially eying the vast pool of Java and .NET professionals to expand the Pega developer community.

The PegaSystems MD observers the demand for Pega developers was high and there is a shortage of skilled head count.  Many As a result, the firms are resorting to poaching, offering huge salaries. We would like to address this problem by increasing the base,” he said.

The company has chalked out a three way approach to attract the new talent pool by continuing the traditional method of offering the certification programmes through authorized partners, secondly by tapping the Java and .NET professionals and reach out to the educational institutions,” he said.

Pega Systems also plans to talk to the IITs, International Institute for Information Technology (Hyderabad) and a few other institutes in this regard. Besides going to tie up with top universities and educational institutions to make the certification programmes a part of the curriculum.

The recently held Pega Developer Conference 2014 here was witness to the firms interest in Java and .Net community  with dedicated sessions for the professionals. The PegaSystems leadership has been telling the communities that it is easy to acquire a new skill and tap the unfolding demand for Pega platform.

About 2,500 developers attended the conference that discussed the digitization of businesses and resulting demand for quicker go-to-market strategies in developing technology solutions.

According to Gartner, by 2016, 20 per cent of all the "shadow business processes" will be supported by BPM cloud platforms. Gartner refers to all the hidden organizational processes that are supported by IT departments as part of legacy business processes such as Excel spreadsheets, routing of emails using rules, phone calls routing, etc. These can, of course also be replaced by other technologies such as workflow software.
