PeerMe to ramp up India operations

NEW DELHI: PeerMe, Inc., a peer-to-peer voice communications technology company focused on voice enabling the Internet, is planning to ramp up its development headcount and investment in India.

PeerMe Inc. founder and CEO Tom Laster said, “We currently employs around 20 people in India and are planning to employ 40 more software engineers by the end of this year. The company has invested around $500,000 in India and plans to invest another $500,000 this year in its India operations.”

The company currently has two offices in India — in Bangalore and Chennai. The company's business development team sits in Chennai. PeerMe has a wholly owned subsidiary, PeerMe Software Technology Pvt Ltd, in Bangalore where its web development team is based. The company also plans to set up a business development team in Northern India this year.

The company has recently launched two solutions in Internet voice communications - PeerMe Voice Tags and PeerMe Everywhere. PeerMe Voice Tags allows Internet users to Voice Tag their website or blog while PeerMe Everywhere offers choice to Internet portal by voice enabling their user base. The company is very bullish about the Indian market and is targeting individuals, small businesses and enterprises with its products.
