PCQuest users laud Wipro, Microsoft

BANGALORE: The Wipro brand was adjudged the best Indian IT brand by PCQuest Users’ choice awards, while Microsoft was chosen as the best MNC IT brand and Windows XP won the best product of the year, during the magazine’s annual awards function. Karnataka, minister for IT and Tourism, DB Inamdar gave away the awards by, at a function held in the recently concluded Bangalore IT.com.



Instituted by PCQuest, the awards is the IT industry’s most coveted and longest running product awards in the country. This year the awards were given out in 42 categories of hardware, software and services. Compaq won both the Home PCs and Office PCs brand, while IBM bagged the notebook category. It was a complete sweep by the HP brand in the printer section winning the inkjet, laser and large format categories apart from winning the desktop scanner and tape backup devices. Interestingly VSNL continued to top as the user’s choice best ISP.



The PCQuest User’s Choice awards are based on an all India survey conducted by IMRB to gauge what IT products users are likely to buy. The survey covered decision-makers from large businesses, small businesses, development houses and households. The respondents made their choices on the basis of how well-known the band is, its pricing, its quality and the after sales service provided.
