BANGALORE, INDIA: Paytm has acquired consumer behaviour prediction and recommendation platform, Shifu reportedly for $8 million.

Shifu is a context-aware personal assistant app owned by Delhi-based The Signals. It is founded by Prashant Singh, Deepansh Jain and Michael Massey. The app mines smartphone usage data, location, time and other elements to offer personalized and relevant suggestions.
The acquisition will help Paytm to create intuitive and personalized experience on its platform.

The Shifu team will join Paytm, but the app will continue to be available separately in the app store.

Paytm had also acquired a marketplace app for local services providers, Near.in last month for close to $2million.
