Patni forms JV in Japan with JR Kyushu

NEW DELHI, INDIA: IT and Product Engineering Services provider Patni Computer Systems Ltd today said that it has signed a joint venture pact with Kyushu Railway Company, a railroad company in Japan.

The pact is signed between JR Kyushu System Solutions Inc., the IT systems arm of Kyushu Railway Company and Patni Computer Systems Japan, Inc., the Japanese arm of Patni, said a press release.

The new company, christened ‘JR Kyushu Patni Systems, Inc.’, (JRQP) is a 51:49 partnership between JRQSS and Patni Japan respectively.

The JV is aimed at providing high quality, cost effective IT and product engineering services to the Japanese enterprise market. It will also expand into other Asian markets in the future.

Commenting on the joint venture, Koji Karaike, chief executive officer, JR Kyushu said, “JR Kyushu is committed to its theme of ‘Growth and Evolution’. By combining Patni’s high-end technical and sales capability with our domestic expertise, we will be able to offer quality IT services to customers other than the JR Kyushu Group. We are very pleased to take the first step of growth in this new area.”

Jeya Kumar, chief executive officer, Patni said, “Patni has been a pioneer in the Japanese market with vast experience spanning over 15 years. Going forward, this JV will take us into our next phase of growth and we’re glad to have found a strong partner in JR Kyushu.”
