Parametric chalks out plans for India

BANGALORE: Parametric Technology Corporation (PTC) has chalked out plans to establish itself in the Indian market. PTC has announced that Kishore Rao has been appointed as managing director, who will be responsible for PTC's business interest in the Indian sub-continent. PTC has also shifted its head office from Delhi to Bangalore.



PTC's plans for the Indian market include, increase in employee strength by 50 per cent, set up more training centres, have a centre for excellence for Windchill in Bangalore, leverage e-engineering or Collaborative Product Commerce (CPC), enabling OEM's to set up "cluster group" using CPC, etc..



With the acquisition of Computervision and its Windchill technology in January 1998, PTC entered the enterprise information management market. Windchill offers a web based development and deployment platform and a suite of product and process lifecycle applications that help companies leverage the information captured in design engineering and accelerate its flow through their value chain. The company already has 2 clients in India, Jyothi and Sona Steering for their Windchill technology. PTC looks forward to extending its technology leadership and strategic partnerships with customers in the new millennium. PTC is expecting a revenue of Rs 50 crore from its Indian operations this year and they are aiming at a Rs 100 crore in the next fiscal year.
