BHUBANESWAR, INDIA: The Government of Orissa has won the Gold Icon Award under the Best Government Portal category at the National Awards for e-Governance 2011-2012, organized by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG).

The portal adopted by the Government of Orissa, Directorate of Treasuries and Inspection (DTI), is based on Oracle Fusion Middleware.

Individuals and companies can have a payment option to quickly and easily pay duties and taxes online, rather than manually submitting a cheque or banker’s draft for payment of taxes.

The portal also helped streamline lengthy in-house processes and freed up administrative staff and budget control officers’ time by automating processing of allotment distribution.

The new system improved expenditure and revenue management by providing related information to higher levels of government administration.

“Oracle Fusion Middleware has enabled us to deploy new centralized applications that streamline budget management and allow individuals to quickly and easily pay duties and taxes online,” said P.K. Das, director (retired), DTI, Government of Orissa.

“Not only do their solutions allow efficient treasury management and save our officials’ time exponentially, the intuitive interface of the portal has also been well received by both, the citizens and the staff members,” he added.
