BANGALORE, INDIA: Oracle will be opening its 10th Product Development Center in Gandhinagar in Gujarat International Finance Tec City (GIFT).

As the state showcases an abundance of talent pool, strong infrastructure, and availability of partners to grow its business with, Oracle selected this particular state.

Opening its first development centre in 1994, the company has established centres in Bengaluru, Hyderbad, Mumbai, Noida, Pune and other emerging cities.

The company has more than 30,ooo workforce globally  in its product development and invests approximately around $ 5 billion every year.

“India employs Oracle’s second largest workforce of developer and engineers, making it one of our most important product development centers across the world. The talent here and the work the teams are doing have played a very important role in helping our customers transition to the Cloud,” said Thomas Kurian, president, Product Development, Oracle.

In fiscal 2015, Oracle hired more than 2,300 engineers in product development functions in India, of which 18pc were college graduates. The company will continue to hire this year as well.

Over the past decade Oracle has invested more than US $ 34 billion in continued innovation. The company will continue to focus on its hardware and systems, information management, application infrastructure, business applications and cloud computing.

Thomas Kurian added, “We want everyone in the world, as long as they have a web-browser, to be able to run Oracle software, without the need of a datacenter or major investments in hardware and software. We firmly believe there is a great opportunity to work with these firms and help them create a successful business path for themselves.”

Oracle Cloud will focus on services across software as a service (SaaS), platform as a service (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS), and data as a service (DaaS). Last month, 32 billion transactions were made on its cloud platform.

Tata Sky, MakeMyTrip, Jabong, Tech Mahindra are few of the company's Indian customers using the cloud platform.

The company expects to grow more on its Cloud business, information management and analytics, thirdly on its engineered hardware systems, in the next 12 months.
