Oracle launches Think.com in Hindi

NEW DELHI: The Oracle Education Foundation today announced the launch of its Think.com portal in Hindi. The portal enables teachers and students to collaborate and create educational content online.

Launching the portal here, Krishan Dhawan, managing director of Oracle India said that this was the first time that think.com was being made available in an Indian language.

“The Hindi initiative is an attempt by Oracle to compliment the education system in India by imparting skill and also as a platform for coloration for the future. This will help the students to work and collaborate among themselves and make them more creative for the future. We intend to extend the language further based on the response for the Hindi version,” he said.

Dhawan added that the Hindi interface will enable open global learning community to thousands of Indian students.

Speaking on the occasion, Kiran Karnik, president of Nasscom said that innovative ideas such as think.com were a necessity in a country like India, where a majority of students are not fully proficient in English.

“Through this initiative Oracle has provided young students to think beyond classrooms. There are a tremendous prospects and opportunities for Think.com, as the global collaboration and communication skills they pick-up using the portal will help the students when they join the international workforce,” he said.

The launch also marked the recognition of several students and teachers from the Think.com community to be felicitated for using the portal in creating learning projects and outstanding educational content.

Think.com, launched in India in 2004, is already being used by over 75, 000 students and teachers in over 1100 schools in across the country, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Navodaya Vidyalayas and DAV schools.
