Oracle Academy and Institute of Electronic Governance extend MoU in Andhra

BANGALORE, INDIA: The Institute of Electronic Governance (IEG) has extended its Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Oracle India to implement Oracle Academy's computer science curriculum in 400 educational institutions in Andhra Pradesh.

Under the MoU, it is planned that 50,000 students and 1000 faculty in Andhra Pradesh will be introduced to computer science using Oracle technology in Oracle Academy's Introduction to Computer Science and Advanced Computer Science offerings.

Additionally, Oracle Academy content and courseware will also be offered as elective modules in at least 100 institutions.

As part of the MoU, 150 faculty members will participate in "Train the Trainer" courses, enabling them to use Oracle Academy infrastructure to train other teachers. Faculty training will begin in January, 2014.

The Introduction to Computer Science curricula include Database Design and Programming with SQL, Database Programming with PL/SQL, Java Fundamentals and Java Programming.

This joint initiative between Oracle and the IEG will help students develop vital business and technology skills and help provide them with a competitive advantage as they enter the workforce.

In India, more than 685,000 students from 31,000 educational institutions have benefited from the Oracle Academy program over the last five years.
