SAN JOSE, USA: The Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI), an independent non-profit organization dedicated to supporting and advancing SystemC as an industry-standard language for electronic system-level (ESL) design, today announced it has added three new members – Texas Instruments (TI), Maple Design Automation, and Virtutech, Inc. – to its growing ecosystem of system-on-chip (SoC) companies, tool vendors, intellectual property suppliers, and embedded software developers.

Virtutech enters the organization as the 10th corporate member, joining ARM, Cadence Design Systems, CoWare, Forte Design Systems, Intel, Mentor Graphics, NXP Semiconductors, STMicroelectronics, and Synopsys.

With the addition of TI and Maple Design Automation, OSCI's associate corporate members number more than 25 companies.

"OSCI sees the expanding interest in membership as an indication of industry acceptance of the standards work we have been doing, most recently in the area of transaction-level modeling," said Mike Meredith, president of OSCI. "We look forward to positive contributions by each of these companies as we continue to grow the SystemC ecosystem and advance SystemC standards."

"As evidenced by the latest release of the OSCI TLM-2 draft 2 standard, SystemC continues to make strides in standardizing transaction level modeling to address key interoperability challenges associated with virtual platforms and intellectual property exchange," said Tor Jeremiassen, simulation and modeling CTO, SDO Foundational Tools, TI. "TI looks forward to further advancing transaction level modeling and fully participating in other working group initiatives as a new member of OSCI."

Michel Genard, newly appointed member of the OSCI Board of Directors and Virtutech vice president of marketing added: "The work that OSCI has done to advance standards for electronic system-level design, especially with TLM2, goes hand-in-hand with our virtualized software development (VSD) efforts for electronic device software. Virtutech intends to be actively involved in the OSCI Transaction-Level Modeling (TLM) working group where key abstraction levels and aspects of model interoperability are being standardized."

The Open SystemC Initiative (OSCI) is an independent, not-for-profit association composed of a broad range of organizations dedicated to supporting and advancing SystemC as an open industry standard for system-level modeling, design and verification. SystemC is a language built in C++ that spans from concept to implementation in hardware and software.
