In conjunction with the announcement, PortableApps.com has begun publishing freeware applications on their site, adding to their open source line-up.

"We've worked with some of the software publishers to bring their software to our portable platform," said PortableApps.com founder and lead developer John T. Haller. "Now users will be able to bring all of their favorite software from any publishers with them."

PortableApps.com began the announcement of available freeware by making available portable versions of Skype, the Google Chrome web browser, 2X Software's remote software client, the µTorrent bit torrent client, TeamViewer's remote PC support tool, Foxit Corporation's Foxit Reader, the FreeCommander file browser, anti-spyware tool SpyDLLRemover, icon editor IcoFX and many others.

Scott Sims, business development manager at 2X Software, Americas stated that the company was "excited to offer our customers the 2X client integrated with PortableApps.com, providing hardware-independent access to virtual applications and desktops. Government-class security networks should especially benefit from this partnership, since no application installations are required on workstations."

In addition to popular software, many of the most popular games on Windows and mobile phones will also be coming to PortableApps.com.
