Online feud leads to murder

BANGALORE, INDIA: A German computer gamer was arrested on Thursday in connection with the murder of a British university student in Nottingham, who was an Internet gaming enthusiast. Reports say that an apparent cyberspace dispute led to the alleged murder.

According to police officials the 21-year-old boy from a town near Frankfurt knew the victim through an online games forum. And he had traveled all the way to UK to murder Matthew Pyke, whose body was discovered by his girlfriend at their Nottingham city centre flat on September 19.

Pyke was running an Internet site and he used his online forum to discuss various tips on plots, characters and strategies for the computer game Advanced Wars. His postings in MySpace is also linked to his passion for video games.

However, the exact development that led to the killing is not yet known.  The suspect, whose identity has not been revealed yet, was tracked through Internet postings and was arrested in Limburg-Weilburg, said police.
