MUMBAI, INDIA: The Indian Railways which is more in news these days for the increasing number of freak accidents, has decided to leverage information technology to prevent freak accidents.
The engineers working for the world’s largest public transport provided worked tirelessly to build a computerized track maintenance modules have been developed which will be installed across the 64,500-kilometre network, informed VK Gupta, Board Member (Engineering), Indian Railways. The computerization process will be aided by the Center for Rail Information Systems (CRIS)— a railways PSU.
What will the modules do?
According to Gupta, the modules will indicate a measurement of rail temperatures, provide alerts on rail fractures and water level indications at bridges where flooding is common during monsoon.
