Ola has also rolled out an app enhancement in its recent update this week to allow for swift loading even while on 2G networks. With this update, users will be able to save significantly on data usage while using the app.

From receiving just about 20pc of booking requests on the app at launch, Ola receives as much as 99pc of its bookings through the app at current scale.

Over 90pc of Ola customers choose the ‘Ride Now’ option instead of ‘Ride Later’ indicating a tremendous shift in the way consumers prefer to use transportation on-demand.

Even in smaller cities where the company has launched its services in the past year, more than 95pc of bookings come through the app at the moment.

With about 99pc of its booking requests already coming through the app, Ola has decided to accept booking requests only through this medium from the coming month.

Ola’s mobile app has many features including Ola Money, tracking and sharing of ride details, SOS & emergency contact, amongst others. Ola Money, the in-app wallet enables customers to ride cashless across cabs and autos and taxis on the platform.

GPS tracking of cars allows users to share their ride details with loved ones in real-time over SMS. An in-app SOS button, which when activated, sends out all ride details in real-time including GPS coordinates and driver details to a pre-set emergency contact of the user via SMS and e-mail.  Ola’s feedback rating system post-ride helps keep the high quality ride experience across all categories.
