Ola opens up its API to developers to reach out to over 100mn user base

BANGALORE, INDIA: In an effort to reach out to more users and to offer them a seamless experience of personal transportation, app based taxi services aggregator, Ola released its API for the developers community. It will allow them integrate Ola's offering onto their platforms.

Scope of integration could be across ride availability, estimation, booking and tracking, etc. The APIs are also expected to evolve rapidly, allowing for integration across Ola Money and newer categories and use cases available on the Ola app.

Ola targets an overall reach to a user base of over a 100 million from its API partners over the next two years.

Ankit Bhati, CTO and co-founder at Ola said, “Our technology has helped in enabling mobility for millions of users, across use cases in over a 100 cities. With this step, we would open up access to many more millions of users from our partners, offering them a seamless mobility experience. We are excited about welcoming thousands of developers across the country to work with us to build mobility for a billion people.”

Ola also conducted its first API Hackathon last week to encourage developers in creating solution that will solve a real pain point for users. This gave brands and developers, an opportunity to leverage Ola's API on their own applications and solutions seamlessly.

Many mobile apps and technology brands are already working on integrating Ola's API. Samsung, MakeMyTrip, InMobi, and Helpchat have also integrated Ola's API and demonstrated their applications during the hackathon.
