The quad-core model is a 32-bit ARM cortex A15 chipset, while the new dual-core model has Nvidia's own custom designed dual-denver cores that are based on the ARM's latest V8 64-bit architecture.

One would ask what's the use of such insane power. Then Nvidia's core gaming strength comes to mind as the Tegra K1 now supports the Unreal Engine three and boasting technically superior gaming chops to consoles like the PlayStation 3 and the Xbox 360. It also combines Nvidia's lauded Kepler graphics technology that was first seen on PC GPUs last year.

Nvidia has also announced a new model called the Tegra K1 VCM which targets vehicles bringing next generation processing capabilities to high-end cars.

According to the chipmaker, products using the quad-core model of the Tegra V1 will be seen in the first half of the year and products based on the dual-core model will arrive in the second half of the year.
