How was the journey with SAP been so far?

SAP is a big product and if you know how to use it, it’s great. We recently went live with CRM. It was a key achievement as we needed a single platform with high integration and real time implementation. It is a dynamic product so whatever changes we need to do happen fast.

Any other plans in mind now?

People are going to be spending less time in offices so SAP-from-Anywhere is what I am looking at.

What would be your advice to peers with your ERP experience?

SAP is not some quick IT pill that you can take. It is a big product, so one should have a clearer roadmap. If you have a good blueprint, it will help you to achieve it. You really need to look into what all you can do with it and also your information dimensions should be really good to leverage it better.

With the challenges that CIOs often face with vendors, do you think in-sourcing would be wave long enough or impactful enough as an alternative?

One should have one’s own IT team. They should realize when and how new requirements are coming in from your users. Also, you can not trust your implementation partners all the time. The higher support areas should be in-house.
