BANGALORE, INDIA: NTT DATA, Inc., announced the availability of Ntercept, a mobile app developed to provide personal safety assistance to victims during a crisis situation.

Ntercept was originally created as part of an innovation initiative supporting female employees’ safety in India."Women make up a sizeable and important component of our workforce and, as a company, we feel we have a responsibility to contribute to their safety - and that can be extended to all our colleagues and their families," said Madhavi Singala, vice president, delivery excellence leader and chairperson of the Women Initiative at NTT DATA, NTT DATA Global Delivery Services Ltd.

The Ntercept mobile app, once triggered, makes an emergency call and simultaneously sends text messages to a person’s designated SOS contact list. The SOS message will then be sent every two minutes with a distress message and the current location of the mobile user. The app also records the voice conversation at the site, which can be very useful as evidence in any future investigations.

Ntercept is not just for women, and can assist anyone in a crisis situation. With 65 percent of all U.S. children below the age of 18 currently using a mobile phone, the app is also a great choice for enabling young people to contact help quickly in distressful situations with this easy-to-use app.

Ntercept is now publically available in both India and the U.S. on both Android and iOS platform.  A Windows version is also in development.
