NEW DELHI, INDIA: Finnish telecom equipment major, Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has come up with its technology vision for 2020. The company, with an eye on gigantic shift toward mobile broadband, is facilitating telcos to handle extreme traffic and deliver 1-gigabyte of data to every user per day.

NSN believes that by 2020, mobile networks should be geared to profitably deliver 1GB personalized data in most of the mature markets that include many of Asia's developing economies. Higher spectral efficiency and small cells could provide up to 1,000 times more capacity in wireless access.

Besides driving 5G research, the equipment giant is focusing on reducing latency to milliseconds, making networks self-aware, network experience customization and flattening total energy consumption. By aligning traffic growth, cost and revenues, NSN believes that operators would be able to monetize traffic smartly.

Joachim Ebinger , NSN's global head for mobile broadband programs, said that with the exponential growth in data consumption, its roadmap for 2020 lies in empowering telcos to deliver 1GB data as well as achieving energy efficiency. "Energy utilization depends squarely on the pace of network modernization," added Ebinger.

The company has also unveiled the industry's leading software-driven all-in-one three-sector macro base station, Flexi Compact. It allows operators to derive several benefits that include quick implementation, low CAPEX with minimal site cost, and lowest base station power consumption, with no air conditioning needed.
