Using the application called Miramax eXperience, users can rent, and eventually buy, movies and view them within Facebook.

“We are big believers in Facebook and what it could mean for the future of the content business,” the Hollywood studio said in a blog post.

“Today there are over 50 million friends on Facebook that mention a Miramax film in their profile, interact with our Miramax page (www.facebook.com/miramax), or like the fan pages of beloved Miramax titles and talent — from Good Will Hunting to Pulp Fiction and Ben Affleck to Quentin Tarantino,” it added.

Initially, the studio is releasing 20 movies in the Facebook app, which include 'Pulp Fiction', 'Trainspotting' and 'Spy Kids'.

Miramax said its goal with the new App is to offer consumers a great user experience, in which they can watch movie clips and feature length films, play games and share the experience with their friends within the Facebook community.

With new plans, the studio aims to ultimately build its reach to more than 150 million Facebook friends within the next 18 months.

The Hollywood studio developed this service in just eight weeks, with the help of Ooyala and AllDigital. And the goal is “to emulate what Facebook does better than any company in the world — don’t wait for perfection; launch and then iterate, iterate and iterate again,” it added.
