MUMBAI, INDIA: Amid the slowdown, the trend of video conferencing solutions and tools usage is witnessing an extensive surge as a key means to lower travel costs and save time for enterprises and businesses.

While the video conferencing solutions and tools are considered an effective communication means, they still remain very expansive and highly complex, technically.

For instance, telepresence is a very expensive form of high quality video conferencing solution that demands state-of-the-art IT infrastructure and networks, higher bandwidths and maintenance cost.

This apart, these solutions and tools are proprietary in nature, non-compatible to open standards, require lot of technical configurations, software applications and large space for installation and usage.

However, Mumbai-based Actis Technologies, an audio video solutions provider, has come out with its novel innovative mobile video conference unit (MVU), which is highly flexible, cost effective, has High Definition (HD) quality performance and simple to use. It is an IP based solutions that can function at variable bandwidths and video quality as per requirements.

According to Actis Technologies' director Abhimanyu Gupta, the existing video conferencing solutions available in the market are not suitable for all businesses and organizational needs; however, their total cost of ownership remains high along with its operational cost, which is predominately bandwidth usage charges.

“Technically, Actis MVU is superior to those video conferencing solutions as it's mobile and smaller in size that can fit into small or large space easily, comes with standards compliant and open architecture, which allows easy compatibility with existing systems and offers HD video quality support,” Gupta told CyberMedia News.

“The MVU has the self sufficient integrated display, camera, codec, mic and speakers. Being mobile it can be easily moved around, comes with pre-configured setup for easy video conferencing (VC) calls within minutes with ISDN and IP support and almost one-third cost compared to the existing video conferencing solutions,” he added.

Other key features include, HD video quality of 720 to 1080 pixel with 30/60 frames per second support, collaborative conferencing that allows real time sharing of PC or laptop screen for presentations at native resolution, easy usage facility with powerful graphic user interface (GUI) with full functional remote control.

Gupta indicated that Actis MVU, being developed on open standards, allows easy integration with any existing or old video conferencing solution and functions right from 128 Kbps to 2 Mbps and above bandwidth speeds, provides controlled usage and reduces the overall cost.

In terms of applications, Actis MVU can be used for organizational and sales team meetings across locations, customer interactions, recruitment interviews, cross location training and other purpose.

The company has developed the Actis MVU series with a range of models such as MVU-1000P, MVU-1100MP, MVU- 2000MP and MVU-2100MP for single to dual displays and from single to multi-point system features. These models will be launched in the market by September this year and the costs range from Rs.7,00,000 to Rs.14,00,000.
