BANGALORE: In a move that could boost the uptake of mobility in the

enterprise,

Nokia
Monday launched four devices under its Eseries umbrella - Nokia E50,

Nokia E60, Nokia E61 and Nokia E71.

The
Nokia Eseries
offers secure mobile access, advanced voice and data

functionalities and combine features of e-mail, connectivity options and voice

quality. The new devices are the first mobile handsets in the industry to

support remote device management based on OMA DM (standard made by Open Mobile

Alliance), which allows IT managers to remotely configure, control and protect

corporate data on handhelds through remote device access, application

management and customization.

While the price point of the E50 has not been disclosed yet, the rest of the
models would be in the Rs 19,000-20,000 price band.

According to the findings of a study conducted by the

company,
the top three mobile applications that were used in enterprises

were mobile email, mobile calendar and access to the Internet.

“Over the next three years, there will be 500,000 enterprise mobile users and
analysts expect the market to clock 50 per cent growth,” said Chakrapani GK,

country general manager, Nokia Enterprise Solutions.

The research was undertaken to examine the readiness of organizations across
six Asian cities including Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Bangalore, Delhi

and Bombay to examine the readiness of organizations to adopt business

mobility. Enterprises in Singapore and Bangkok were the most ready to mobilize

their businesses while Indian organizations showed the potential to drive

higher adoption.

To drive the sales of the Eseries in India,
Nokia is

enhancing its retail presence from the current 1000 to 6000 stores;

identifying partners for the Eseries in its existing distribution system;

through value-added resellers and also in conjunction with operators.
