How does IT play a role in your industry?

Plant automation is a key area. Manpower is very less in the new context. We have come up with new systems for automating the whole plant. In fact the marketing function has more people than the technical side, so automation is accentuated here. Last year we created an independent dispatch system and there is strong IT use in many areas in a cement industry scenario.

What new is happening this year?

We are planning for mobility solutions for order management so that the complete staff can work of handheld devices and they are aware of the order status etc. We would also like to go in for Cloud.

Is it a smooth work putting in new IT pieces in the old brick wall you have built up so far? Like legacy integration issues?

Both the sides will run parallel but not for a long time. After that we have to switch to one platform which would be the new ones only. I do not foresee that as a problem as the future is very clear and most companies would be on new platforms.
