NISG appoints Sanjiv Mital as CEO designate

BANGALORE, INDIA: National Institute of Smart Government (NISG), an organization in the space of e-governance, announced today that it is appointing Sanjiv Mital as its CEO Designate.

NISG, a public private partnership has been established to become a Centre of Excellence in e-Governance, said a press release. A not-for-profit organization, it has been promoted jointly by NASSCOM, ILFS and Department of Information Technology, GOI and Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, GOI, with Governments of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and Meghalaya as stakeholders.

NISG is working on enabling major e-governance projects to successful implementation by working closely with all stakeholders helping project formulation and management, capacity building and research to provide an interface for public private partnership.

Sanjiv was the CEO, and later, the Vice Chairman of Comviva (earlier called Bharti Telesoft). An IIT Kanpur IIM Calcutta alumni, he has previously worked in senior positions in Tally, Wipro and IBM, and more recently has been actively mentoring emerging companies as part of NASSCOM’s mentorship program.

Sanjiv Mital is an experienced IT professional, with almost three decades of experience in Technology and Telecom sectors. Sanjiv is.

R Chandrashekhar, Secretary, Department of Information Technology, Government of India, welcoming the appointment, said “The government is very keen to transform the state of governance in the country and leverage ICT for the same.”

He said NISG plays a crucial role and has successfully facilitated several ICT projects of government national interest with many more in pipeline.

Speaking on the occasion, Som Mittal, President of NASSCOM, said, “Sanjiv has been a dynamic leader and has vast experience in the industry and will bring unique strength to NISG to enable major e-Governance projects to successful implementation. We expect Sanjiv to work very closely with Central and State Government further strengthen the ongoing initiatives, build a strong ecosystem of service providers including large and small players."
