Nimbuzz inks deal with Tata Indicom

NEW DELHI, INDIA: Nimbuzz, mobile social instant messaging, (geo) presence and VoIP provider, had inked a deal with Tata Indicom, a CDMA-based mobile operator.

According to the terms of the tie-up, the mobile operator will white list out the IPs and get a special link - mtata.nimbuzz.com on Tata Zone. Tata Indicom, which  is planning to launch a GSM network this year adding to their share of 9.3% of the total Indian mobile subscriber base, will also endorse Nimbuzz WAP application through SMS promotions. The application will be available to all the 35 million TATA subscribers through its very popular TATA Zone free of any subscription charge.

Vikas Saxena, country head, Nimbuzz India, said: “We are registering over 600,000 users per month and this has been a terrific start for us in India which is a top market now! Zubin Jimmy Dubash, assistant vice president-VAS, Tata Teleservices Limited, said: “Nimbuzz's service combines the power of a desktop chat with the mobility and convenience. Our partnership with Nimbuzz will open up new avenues and direction of increased ARPU’s in VAS segment with the introduction of Instant messaging and Mobile social networking”.
