NEW DELHI: Aimed at providing a cutting-edge career start to engineering, computer science and IT students, IT training company NIIT has launched a range of specialized programs with a focus of providing industry-ready, skilled IT manpower to the industry.

According to the press release, the new programs address four needs faced by engineering and IT students, curriculum support, enhancing skills in new technology areas, global certification from IT software vendors and placement assistance, in line with industry requirements.

For the first category, NIIT has created a special series of curriculum support programs which are mapped to university curricula in specific IT technologies and aim to help engineering students improve their core-subject grades. These are modular programs, ranging from 30 to 70 hours and cover areas like databases, OS, languages and programming.

In the second category, NIIT has designed advanced technology programs, varying from 40 to 150 hours, to enhance skills in new technologies. These are expected to enable engineering, computer science and IT students to be better-prepared in emerging technology areas.

The third category focuses on international certification programs that are being offered in alliance with global IT software vendors like Microsoft, Oracle and Citrix. NIIT will offer students short-term programs, which will equip them to qualify for global certificates in emerging technology platforms.

ANIIT, a special fast track program selectively chooses students who, after successful completion of the four-month intensive program are provided placement assistance through NIIT's national Placement network and its industry alliances. Candidates in the final year of their B.E./ B.Tech. / MCA/ M.Sc. (IT/CS) are eligible to apply.
