With the new tie-up, subscribers to The New York Times will have access to articles, blogs, videos and photos produced by the newspaper while non-subscribers will get to read only limited content.

It could be an appropriate move for the New York Times with many preferring to read newspapers online. Moreover, the newspaper industry is declining faster than any other industry in the United States, according to a report released last week from the Council of Economic Advisers.

So, for newspapers, Flipboard kind of apps come handy as readers can flip through the news from their Twitter timeline as well as from other social media sites. One can also see the posts and photos shared by friends on Facebook and Instagram.

"There are more and more people reading on mobile devices every day. And it's more important than ever that great content be discoverable, beautiful, and sustainable on these devices," Flipboard CEO Mike McCue said in a statement.

These days, it doesn't matter where the news comes from, what matters is how easily it can be accessed. So, are you the kind who still enjoys holding newspaper in hand to get the daily dose of news? Or, do you prefer reading news on your phone while on the go? Let us know.
