PUNE, INDIA: Online marriage portal BharatMatrimony.com is gearing up for the Australian market with plans of putting a physical presence with an offline center.

Enthused by the response received from a recent Singles' meet in Sydney, Uday Zokarkar, business head for BharatMatrimony, is upbeat about tapping the India diaspora.

"The event was very well appreciated. We will address this market with both online and offline presence."

The company has expanded internationally in UK and Middle East and is now eyeing South Africa seriously. It will complete 100 offline centers by next week.

Meanwhile, it is applying lessons from online activities to offline events and vice versa. It has kicked off the idea of Singles' meet on the online side as well with a virtual matrimony meet last month.

The new feature that started with the Agarwal community will be taken to 52 communities and meets this year.

"It's a platform where singles register for a nominal price at pre-decided IST and international times to meet, chat and exchange information in virtual chatrooms just the way it happens offline," he explained.

The portal has also kicked off virtual horoscope matchmaking in six languages.
