Doubleclick confirms attack by hackers
NEW YORK: Leading online advertising network DoubleClick Inc. confirmed news
reports on Friday that its computers had been attacked by hackers, leading to
some disruption in its services. A DoubleClick spokesman confirmed a report in
Friday's Wall Street Journal that the firm had to shut down some of its servers
to investigate the attacks. He said DoubleClick customers had not been able to
access some of its services during the shut down. The disruption was minimal,
the spokesman said, although he was unable to say how long the system checks

Epson unveils demo center
MUMBAI: Epson India has unveiled a state-of-the-art demo center called -
Epson Square- in Mumbai on Friday. The center, which covers an area of more than
1,500 sq. ft, will display the complete and latest range of Epson's Total
Digital Imaging Solution Products. Epson’s color inkjet printers, photo inkjet
printers, scanners, laser printers, projectors, dot matrix printers and digital
cameras will be showcased during the demo. Consumers would also be given
detailed demos of the products. Digital enthusiasts can bring their files and

Knowledge Park gets grant from DSIR
HYDERABAD: ICICI Knowledge Park has signed an agreement with Department of
Scientific and Industrial Research. As per the conditions of the agreement,
ICICI will set up a virtual information center inside the Knowledge Park
situated near Hyderabad. The complete project is likely to cost around Rs 2
crore, of which the park will share Rs 50 lakh and the remaining capital will be
pumped in by DSIR. "The main focus of the center will be to act as an
electronic platform for fast and reliable access to information and integration
among industry, academia, and public funded research in the area of science and
technology." said V V Subba Rao, acting CEO of the park. Initially the
Technology Park is going to focus mainly on areas such as - biotechnology,
chemical technology, pharmaceuticals, new material, IT and telecom. - CNS
IIS Infotech renamed Xansa
NEW DELHI: UK-based FI Group plc (FI), an IT services company, specializing
in business consulting, IT and outsourcing, has announced a change in its name
to Xansa Plc. The re-branding program involves every aspect of the whole
organization. All the nine companies under the Group flagship, including IIS
Infotech will therefore have a common identity and IIS Infotech will be re
branded as Xansa. Saurabh Srivastava will be appointed as the executive chairman
of Xansa India and Group Director Xansa plc, while Sharad Srivastava will be the

HP eyeing Scient purchase
NEW YORK: Computer and printer company Hewlett-Packard may be weighing its
options for the purchase of Internet consultancy Scient Corp., sources told
Reuters on Friday. However, a spokeswoman for Scient refused to comment on the
matter. HP has been seeking to strengthen its consulting and services business
since its plan to purchase Big 5 accounting house PriceWaterhouseCooper's
consulting wing, fell apart last year. "At some point in the past we
evaluated Scient along with other companies, as we do from time to time, but we
do not comment on rumors and speculation," said a spokeswoman for
Hewlett-Packard, Suzette Stephens. At the end of 2000, San Francisco-based
Scient Corp. said it was cutting 460 jobs and closing two offices in California
and Texas in a move to reduce costs and streamline its business. - Reuters
