IT, media, telecom to grow five fold
NEW DELHI: IT, media and telecom retailing in India will grow Rs 5,000 crore
by 2005, said Kurt Salmon Associates (KSA), an Indian consulting firm in the
field of retailing. Growth drivers for this retail sector include fast adoption
to new technology by Indians, emergence of the SOHO consumer, and the growing
convergence of these three hitherto separated areas.
ADP to invest 30 million pounds in India
HYDERABAD: Automatic Data Processing (ADP) posted revenues of $1.7 billion in the quarter ended December 31, 2000, up 13 per cent from last year. ADP, with over $6 billion in revenues and 500,000 clients, is one of the largest independent computing services firms in the world. The company has already announced an investment of 30 million pounds in India through Wilco India, a wholly owned subsidiary. Wilco is an international software and services provider, specializing in solutions to support retail and institutional STP operations, e-brokerage and outsourcing.
Thakral Computers to distribute IBM products
MUMBAI: Thakral Computers has announced its plans to distribute IBM products.
The company is all set to distribute iPAQs along with the Armada range of
Compaq notebooks. Incidentally, Compaq makes up almost 65 per cent of Thakral's
revenue. "We are concentrating on the upcountry market and we already have
a presence in Pune as well as Ahmedabad. We are expanding our operations in Pune, AP and Karnataka," says Thakral Computers Ltd. deputy general manager
Anjan Mukherjee.
Lalani Computer Academy to offer training
KOLKATA: Lalani Group, a Kolkata-based computer academy, will impart training in
hardware and networking courses. Lalani Computer Academy will offer diplomas and
certificates in both hardware and networking engineering and conduct courses in
transmission media, digital electronics and network protocol. The other features
of the courses include emphasis on personality development, field experience at
the Lalani service unit and placement assistance to candidates.
