SAN JOSE, USA: NETGEAR, Inc., a worldwide provider of technologically innovative, branded networking solutions, today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Kaspersky Lab, a leading developer of Internet threat management solutions that protect against all forms of malicious software, to integrate Kaspersky Lab's award-winning anti-malware and antivirus technologies into NETGEAR's new ProSecure STM Series of Web and Email Threat Management Appliances for Small- to Medium-sized Businesses (SMBs).

The STM Series (STM150, STM300 and STM600) utilizes a best-of-breed security architecture integrated with NETGEAR's patent-pending Stream Scanning technology to deliver the first enterprise-class SMB security appliance for securing Web and email traffic that is easy to use and manage. By incorporating the complete library of anti-malware and antivirus solutions from Kaspersky Lab, NETGEAR is enabling its value-added reseller (VAR) partners to offer SMBs the best available security technology working to protect their networks.

"SMBs are at just as great a risk for security threats as large enterprises, if not more so, since they often lack the in-house IT expertise to deploy advanced threat management technologies," stated Jason Leung, NETGEAR's senior product line manager for SMB Security. "By integrating the full array of award-winning anti-malware solutions from Kaspersky Lab into our ProSecure STM Series, we are able to offer our reseller partners an enterprise-grade solution to deliver to their SMB customers, enabling both comprehensive protection as well as powerful management capabilities."

Recently named as the 2008 VARBusiness "Client Security Software Company of the Year," Kaspersky Lab's solutions deliver the most immediate protection against IT security threats including viruses, spyware, crimeware, Trojans, worms, spam and hackers.

"We are pleased that NETGEAR has chosen to integrate Kaspersky Lab's best-of-breed antivirus engine into their new ProSecure appliances, providing their customers with the most advanced anti-malware protection available today," said Peter Merkulov, vice president, Technology Alliances, at Kaspersky Lab. "The combination of Kaspersky Lab's antivirus engine and NETGEAR's impressive ProSecure appliance offers SMB customers unparalleled protection at extremely competitive rates."

NETGEAR's ProSecure STM Series of Web and Email Threat Management Appliances offers three different sized platforms (STM150, STM300 and STM600), each with a different level of horsepower, to accommodate businesses with up to 600 concurrent users. It differs from cheaper alternate solutions by protecting businesses from both email-borne and web-borne threats through its use of best-of-breed technologies - not open source ones. The result is expanded security coverage, decreased configuration and installation time, and more efficient coverage with fewer false positives.

The STM Series minimizes the impact on network performance, ensuring that business services are not brought to a screeching halt in the name of security. Running on top of NETGEAR's patent-pending web-optimized Stream Scanning architecture, technology solutions from Kaspersky Lab work in parallel with NETGEAR's own heuristics engine to protect against known and unknown threats.

With full 24/7 technical support that connects SMBs directly with experienced security experts, the NETGEAR ProSecure STM Series of Web and Email Threat Management Appliances will change the face of SMB security. The STM150 is available now from value-added resellers at an estimated U.S. street price starting at $1,000. The STM300 and STM600 are due in the second quarter of 2009.
