HYDERABAD: Now more Indian cities can get hooked to SatGuide, country’s first navigation system. Come January SatNav Technologies, the developer of SatGuide would launch it in an all-India scenario. ``We are going to add more cities and launch SatGuide in a bigger way in January,’’ said Amit Kishore Prasad, managing director and CEO of SatNav Technologies.

``To cover more cities we have got IRS (Indian Remote Sensing Satellite) 1D and all India digital Satellite imagery from NRSA (National Remote Sensing Agency),’’ added Prasad.

SatGuide provides users the best possible route to a destination by displaying a map on a touch screen device and instructs on the directions to be taken through voice commands. One needs to install the pocket PC based SatGuide in their vehicle.

Currently SatGuide is already available in Delhi, Mumbai, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chennai. Launched last year, it is priced at Rs 37990.

Nippon Autiotronix markets SatGuide and provides it to OEMs and retails channels. To develop SatGuide, SatNav had tied up with Canadian company HSTC and Taiwanese MiTAC. SatGuide uses HSTC navigation software Destinator while MiTAC provides the hardware in the form of the Taiwanese company’s GPS integrated pocket PC. On the other hand, the GIS and point of interest database has been developed by SatNav itself.
