New Horizons India forays into KPO biz

NEW DELHI, INDIA: IT training company New Horizons will offshore global content development to its Indian joint venture.

New Horizons India, its Indian joint venture will create content for internal training material that will be used in 60 countries across the globe. It will also offer the same services to both Indian and global customers who require customized content, New Horizon said in a release on Thursday.

Ajay Kumar Sharma, president and CEO, New Horizons, India, said, "Knowledge process outsourcing will be the key growth driver in the global outsourcing opportunity, and India is perfectly suited to leverage this trend to accelerate its positioning as the global knowledge hub.”

To execute this New Horizons India would invest an initial $10 million over the next three years. A 13,000 sq.ft development center has been set up in Noida, for which staff of 200 has been hired in the first phase. By the end of 2009, New Horizons India will increase headcount to 1000, taking its strength to over 3000 in India.

“We believe that the market for content outsourcing is a $1 billion opportunity worldwide, and we are confident that New Horizons India will be able to leverage their expertise to capture a significant share of this market,” said Mark Miller, president and CEO of New Horizons Worldwide Inc.

According to Evalueserve KPOs in India is estimated to be $12 billion market by 2010. There will be over 2.5 lakh KPO professionals by 2010.
