The BPA consolidates more than 800 separate contracts into one annual transaction, saves the agency time and resources in license administration, and makes ENVI and IDL more readily available to NASA employees and contractors researching Earth climate-related issues.

"Having used Exelis software for more than 30 years, NASA continues to push the limits of scientific exploration and discovery, both in space and on Earth," said Jaye Lampe, president of Exelis Visual Information Solutions. "We are proud that we can help make geospatial imagery and data an integral part of NASA's mission, which is to reach for new heights and reveal the unknown."

The agreement between NASA and Exelis also allows various NASA centers to access Exelis Professional Services, as per the announcement. This enables NASA to work closely with Exelis to customize and extend their software solutions to meet unique scientific needs, including goals specific to current environmental research projects. The BPA will be administered by NASA's Shared Services Center and represents an estimated yearly savings to the agency of more than $100,000. All NASA centers under direct NASA administration are eligible to participate.
